Compliance and Mechanical Resonance
Mechanical resonance is often observed as vibration, and can cause a control loop to become unstable. Complex loads can introduce multiple resonant frequencies.
Couplings Introduce Velocity Errors
Coupling misalignment can introduce periodic velocity ripple. In the graph below, velocity is plotted versus angular position over one revolution. Notice that the velocity error is periodic and repeats twice per revolution.
